Genesis PR achieves outstanding National coverage across newspaper and TV for the Rehab Group’s Annual Parliamentary Pancake Race!

Genesis PR have been celebrating the success of their recent media relations campaign for the Rehab Group’s Parliamentary Pancake Race after generating coverage in publications such as The Sun, The Independent, The People, The Sunday Express, The Financial Times, The Telegraph and The Sunday Times and on television channels The BBC and Sky News.

The event, that sees teams of Lords, MPs and Political Correspondents race around Victoria Tower Gardens outside the Houses of Parliament whilst flipping pancakes, is held on Shrove Tuesday every year. It has become a tourist spectacle and raises funds and awareness of the fantastic work that the Rehab Group does to rehabilitate, train, educate and assist in employment to those who are disadvantaged by disability.

The Rehab Group got Genesis PR on board for 2012 to develop and enhance media relations and coverage of the event. With hard work and commitment to the project Genesis PR’s Account Manager Amy Bullard and Account Executive Ruth Ryland spent time devising targeted media lists, creating bespoke press releases and dedicating hours to phone and email journalists personally and directly in order to build on existing media relationships as well as developing new ones.

Days before the event Amy and Ruth had secured film crews to attend from four major news channels, The BBC, Sky News, ITN and Bloomberg News as well as a long list of National and regional journalists and photographers who almost all proceeded with covering the charity event after.

On the day of the event the Genesis PR team met with the media to advise and inform them on how the race would proceed, what areas would be suitable to get the best ‘shots’ as well as supplying them with informative media handouts.

We were also pleased to meet and interview 2012′s Official Race Scrutineer, for the Rehab Group’s Annual Parliamentary Pancake Race, Natasha Kaplinsky. As one of the UK’s leading broadcasters and an anchor for the ITV network news programmes, Natasha was great fun on the day and showed a real suppoprt for the charity. It was a real thrill for some of our team to meet her.

Genesis PR is thrilled with the outcome and happy to see another client’s needs met and exceeded!
